The Agroecology study programme is designed to educate students about importance of agricultural environment protection in Croatia and in the World, and to provide knowledge about organization of environmentally acceptable and economically efficient production. A balance of managing natural resources used in agriculture (agricultural production area, soil, water) requires knowledge, and the Agroecology study particularly emphasise methods and possibilities of sustainable agricultural management in Croatia in compliance with the requirement of protecting agricultural and natural ecological systems. Numerous ecological problems today occur in areas with conventional agriculture, which makes education as important requirement for sustainable agricultural production. The Agroecology study programme has goal to educate generations of agronomists which will organize agricultural production in environmentally acceptable and permanently sustainable manner. During 3 study years (6 semesters, 180 ECTS credits), student acquires knowledge for continuing graduate studies in agroecology, plant science and related disciplines, with possibilities to enroll similar study programs at other universities in the country or abroad. Depending on the group of chosen modules, students can be trained for independent work within a narrower professional field or at their own family farms as farm production managers, or as workers in state administration and local self-management offices concerned with agriculture and rural sector, as well as associate in research institutions in the field of agriculture and environmental protection. |
