The undergraduate course of studies "Plant Sciences" has been conceived so as to provide the students, besides the basic knowledge of natural-scientific and biotechnical disciplines, with the basics of agricultural disciplines in the first study years, and with applied plant production disciplines in the final semesters, allowing them to take up also other disciplines, in dependence on the choice of modules from other studies. The curriculum envisages a large number of elective modules, a professional project to train students for team work and business communication, and mandatory two-month-long practical work. The new approach to instruction is supported by the prepared relevant literature; students take an active part in class work, do research and exercises, and may enrol in and take an exam in some modules, even a whole semester long, at other faculties in this country and abroad. Depending on the chosen modules, the first degree graduate (Baccalaureus/ea) can be qualified to run modern technological processes within the narrower professional field (crop production) or related agricultural branches (vegetable production, animal husbandry, fruit production, etc.) or enrol in the graduate study course in Plant Sciences or other study courses within biotechnical sciences. |
