Changes in world agriculture in the last twenty years and analysis of the alterations made to the curricula of related faculties in other countries prompted us to start the study course in Organic Agriculture. The first two study years comprise the modules in which students learn the basics of agricultural sciences; these are mandatory modules. The study course in Organic Agriculture is a 3-year course and involves the application of the ECTS credit point system. A number of elective modules are foreseen; in the last, third, study year students can choose 8 of the offered 15 modules and earn 48 ECTS points. Students have the option to spend a semester studying outside the parent faculty (in Croatia or abroad). The course owes its efficiency and attraction to intensive active engagement of students (exercises or seminars), and fewer hours of direct teaching (lectures). The course in Organic Agriculture has been primarily conceived to prepare students for further studies. Upon completion of undergraduate studies in Organic Agriculture, students can enrol in the graduate study course in Organic Agriculture and Agrotourism or, depending on the electives chosen in the third study year, in any other graduate course at the Faculty of Agriculture or in related study courses in the country. |
