Plant pests are harmful animal organisms, pathogens and weeds. Plant protection have equal importance in field crops, vegetable and ornamental crops, pomology and viticulture as well as on landscape and urban areas, industrial and sport objects, watercourses, canals etc. It is also important in protection of stored plant products until their final use or placement to the market. Plant protection has become rather demanding in modern plant production. Modern plant protection must ensure integration and implementation of preventive, administrative, mechanical, chemical and all other pest management programs to reduce yield losses in economically and environment-friendly sense. Plant pests research and management is under study of three main scientific disciplines, entomology, phytopatology and herbology. Students attending Plant Protection study will acquire necessary knowledge (skills) from both conventional and ecologically acceptable plant protection. After finishing undergraduate study students will be qualified for managing (running) plant protection on their own, family and other farms, in Consultant services, agricultural pharmacies, state and local inspections, agricultural companies, in companies for pesticides production, etc. |
