Please note: If you are NOT from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia or Slovenia, click here.

The Journal publishes original articles, review articles, rapid communications and proceedings of scientific meetings in English, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak and Slovenian.
If you want to submit an article to be published in JCEA in your own native language, contact your National Editorial Board (NAB). Otherwise contact the Main editor, Editor in chief, NAB or Technical Board.

GENERAL PRESENTATION

The complete set of the manuscript should be submitted in electronic format. The manuscript should be typed in Times New Roman or Arial fonts, double-spaced with margins of at least 3.5 cm at top, bottom and sides, on paper and CD (diskettes) or E-mail attachment.
The Editorial Board maintains the option of returning, before evaluation, manuscripts to authors who do not comply with these recommendations. The author is advised to keep one copy of the manuscript and a set of figures.
After the article has been accepted for publication, the authors are encouraged to forward the revised version on CD (diskettes), or E-mail attachment to the editor (RTF format is preferred). The publication of the text and coloured figures is free of charge.

ORIGINAL ARTICLES

Original articles should be no longer than ten pages i.e., about 30 000 characters, including tables and figures.
The manuscript should be arranged as follows: title page, short abstract, detailed abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, references, tables, figures. You can write your article in english or in your own native language.

Title page:
The title page should include the following: the title of the paper/article (in English and native language), the names (in full) and surname of each author (surename should be written in capital letters), the department and institution where the study was carried out (international names), telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address of the corresponding author (this author being identified by an asterisk). The title of the article should not contain abbrevations, chemical formulas, trade marks (instead of generic) or slang.

Abstract:
The abstract (less than 850 characters) should be written in both English and native language, in a form suitable for abstracting services. Paragraphs, footnotes, references, cross-references to figures and tables and undefined abbreviations should be avoided.

Keywords:
Up to five keywords should be supplied, both in English and native language of the author. Keywords may be taken from the title, abstract or text. The plural form and uppercase letters should be avoided.

Detailed abstract in English:
A detailed abstract (less than 3000 characters) should be written. If article is written in English language, detailed abstract must be written in native language and vice versa. Detailed abstract should provide sufficient information about methods and results (with reference to the tables and figures), the discussion and conclusion. The purpose of this detailed abstract in English is to give the reader full understanding of the work in all essential respects.

References:
In the reference list, the references should appear in alphabetical order, preceded by an Arabic numeral enclosed in square brackets. The authors’ names are listed in alphabetical and chronological order for each author.
The references are cited in the text by the corresponding number enclosed in square brackets. All entries in the reference list must correspond to references in the text and vice versa. When authors are cited in the text (within a phrase and not just between brackets), the spelling of the authors’ names must be exactly the same as in the reference list. The Harvard system of references should not be used.

The style and punctuation of the references should follow the format illustrated in the following example:

Article in a journal:
[14] Stopar M., Lokar V., The effect of ethephon, NAA, BA and their combinations on thinning intensity of ‘Summerred’ apples, J. Cent. Eur. Agric. (2003) 4: 399-404.

Book:
[5] Brown M.B., Cotton: History, Species, Varieties, Morphology, Breeding, Culture, Diseases, Marketing and Uses, McGraw-Hill, New York, 1938.

Article in a book:
[17] Kubkin S., Measurement of radiant energy, in: Sestak Z., Catsky J., Jarvis P.G. (Eds.), Plant Photosynthetic Production. Manual of Methods, Junk, The Hague, 1971, pp. 702–765.

Illustrations (figures and tables):
As this part is electronically subject to change and mishaps, figures and especially tables demand extra care and safety. We recommend sending illustrations also in separated files. Preferred formats are TIFF, EPS and BMP in resolutions more than 300 bpi. JPG and GIF are optional. The descriptions of tables, figures and illustrations should be written in both English and native language.

RAPID COMMUNICATIONS

Brief accounts of particularly interesting results can be published as rapid communications. Their length is limited to four printed pages, i.e., about 10 000 characters (including figures and tables). They have the same structure as original articles. Authors do not receive proofs.

REVIEW ARTICLES

The length of review articles is limited to 18 printed pages, i.e. about 65 000 characters. The usual division into ‘materials and methods, results and discussion’ may be replaced by a more adapted structure.

PROCEEDINGS OF SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS

Summaries of communications are limited to 1 700 characters. They have no chapters, bibliographic references, or acknowledgements and are published by prior arrangement with the Editorial Board.

SCIENTIFIC NOTES

The Journal will publish brief notes of scientific interest to disseminate information and observation of preliminary nature. The length of such notes will be strictly restricted to two pages (approx. 5 000 characters) and publication will depend on the availability of space in the Journal and general interest of the readers. This form is intended to augment scientific communication and all submissions must include ‘scientific note’ in the title. The title should be written in English and native language.

PROOFS AND REPRINTS

Proofs will be sent to the author indicated on the title page. They should be carefully corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 hours of reception. If this period is exceeded, the galleys will be proved only by the editorial staff and published without the authors’ corrections. Should substantial changes in the original manuscript be requested (other than typographical errors), they will be made at the author’s expense. The final version of the paper is placed on the homepage of the Journal as PDF files, and they can be downloaded and printed if required. The downloaded PDF files are available for the authors at JCEA web page [http://www.agr.hr/jcea] and can be used instead of reprints.

COPYRIGHT

As soon as the article is published, the author is considered to have transferred his rights to the publisher.
